Web Design

During the web design phase I further develop the wire frames into a more detailed visual representation of the end product, considering in-depth functionality and adding color, copy and visual assets such as photos and video placeholders. During this phase I also develop and design assets if needed. The deliverables of the web design phase will show the (web) development team how to program the site, visually outlining how it should look and function. It also helps the client understand the aesthetic, functionality and progress of the project.

After directing the CBS daytime drama "Guiding Light", a colleague and I decided to start our own production company, Coastline Pictures. Because of our extensive experience in broadcast television we wanted our company to reflect the high standard we had grown accustom to. We knew we needed a web site and it had to be clean and easy to navigate. But as we started to go through what we needed, we soon realized that our entire business was going to run through the site – It was going to be our studio. We needed it to not only attract potential customers, but also serve as a platform for clients to view their projects, make notes and share their work with their colleagues.

We started the arduous task of looking for web designers. The first groups we spoke with either were overwhelmed at the scope of the project or gave us a budget that as a start up company we couldn’t afford. Then a friend of mine introduced me to Sam Huss. Immediately he got what we wanted to accomplish. His positive attitude and eagerness to research the latest technologies and incorporate them into the site was a breath of fresh air. Working with Sam brought out the best of the creative process. I felt totally comfortable brainstorming with him. When I came up with a design or functionality question he always gave me a straight answer whether it was possible and how much it would cost. If he didn’t know the answer, he would tell me upfront, ask for some time to research it and he would always get back to me in a timely fashion.

His sense of design was clean and elegant, but also very useful and practical. As we continued to work together designing the site, I came to realize what I think I appreciate the most with Sam – his accessibility. Whenever I had a thought, a question or there was a problem, Sam was always easy to get a hold of. If I left a message he called me right back and if there was a problem with the site, he didn’t stop working on it until it was fixed.

Our site is up now and is working perfectly. We constantly get compliments on it’s look and the functionality. Don’t just take my word on it, check it out for yourself – www.coastlinepictures.com I cannot praise Sam Huss enough. Thank you for creating a great site.
